Brain food!

What are you planting in your mind? What images and thoughts are taking root in your grey matter? We know that we have new neuron development occurring each day. Dendrites, axons, synapses all functioning at an incomprehensible speed. Lets not give any precious brain real estate to rehearsing old lies. Consider a tree that is healthy versus a tree that is rotten. Brain growth is much like tree growth. If we feed a tree the right food then it will produce healthy leaves and fruit. The fruit harvested is a reflection of either a healthy or toxic root system.

Make no mistake, you are feeding your brain something. God’s Word says much on this matter. Our thoughts are like a fuel line to our emotions which power our actions. Our behaviors are then on display for the whole world to see. If you want to know a person, don’t spend so much time listening to what they say about themselves. Rather, observe their behaviors, their fruit. Are their actions reflecting a root problem? Perhaps their behaviors are healthy strengthened by a strong root system. What about you friend? What fruit do you produce? It’s hard to pick just one scripture relevant to this topic so please explore the bible further. The one that comes to mind for me is in Galatians.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control.” (Galatians 5:22 NKJV)

If you really dig deep roots into this scripture it becomes apparent that Christians must be hard to offend, right? They certainly would not look to cause strife or provoke others. Ask the Father about your fruit. Let Him reveal what He wants to prune so that you may bear more fruit.

Yes! There is definitely a “if , then” there. A great reminder that the pruning is because of His love and our growing in His Grace… Grace being “the empowering presence of God in us.”
““For he will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters, That spreads out its roots by the river; And will not fear the heat when it comes; But its leaves will be green and moist. And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought Nor stop bearing fruit.”
    ‭‭JEREMIAH‬ ‭17:8‬ ‭AMP‬‬

I’m so glad you shared this amazing verse Sam. With deep roots in the Lord the storms of life and the drought that parches will not have the ability to take away the nourishment we have in God. Such wisdom!
