It is tempting to blame God when we are subject to the evil choices people make. When a child is raised in violence and darkness we want to scream and shake our fists at the injustice. We may even find ourselves saying, “IF you really loved me God, you wouldn’t have let me suffer.” Perhaps we are feeling forever trapped in a marriage that started roughly and has only worsened. We can choose to give God responsibility for that as well. IF we would only allow ourselves to explore His Word we might discover a refreshing treasure of truth about the lies above.
In Ephesians 6:12 we read, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Make no mistake friend, we have an enemy. He has come to steal, kill and destroy. He is unworthy of naming on this post because he is not our focus. Challenge yourself to ask, “why would God the Father allow for the torture and crucifixion of His perfect Son only to bring me pain?” Doesn’t make sense right! Do you sometimes believe that well worn lie that “God wouldn’t give me more than I can handle. This trial must be from Him.” WRONG! God doesn’t bring evil. EVER. He isn’t some punitive professor kicking it in Heaven throwing down some pain so we can “learn a lesson”. This is false doctrine and must be treated as such. God will use everything to His glory and our good but He is not the author of despair. The cross made a way for us to escape damnation, it is our hope in the storm.
Knowing that there is an unseen world and that there is an evil enemy, imagine with me how much warfare God is already holding back from your path. Give yourself a moment to picture His Wings around you in this hurricane of darkness. He is your light. He is your Maker. He desires only good for you. Don’t believe the lies!
Remember beloved, “4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” 1 John 5: 4-5 NKJV
Comment, if you are comfortable, on what God has done in your storm.
