I’m fine! I just wore the wrong shoes.

“I’m fine, really. What did you say? Help, no I don’t need help.  This old burden is not too hard for me to carry. It’s much lighter than it looks. Trust me, I’m great at multi-tasking. I just wore the wrong shoes for the job, I’ll make it work!”

Ok, true confessions, I’ve been here at Burden Boulevard. Thinking I don’t need help, that I’ve got it covered.  The load I’m carrying is clearly too big but I won’t let anyone, especially not God help. Then suddenly I hear that phrase come out of my own mouth with a unique blend of irritation and sarcasm font, “No really I’m fine!” Did you ever notice that fine is a four letter word? Hmmm.

Friend, lying to yourself is no better than lying to others. We need connection and fellowship, yet so often we are caught up in appearances. We allow the opinions of others to echo in our minds as a reflection of our worth.  This is a dangerous trend in thought. When left unchecked we find ourselves at the mercy of a world that will eat us alive.  “IF only I can prove how independent I am then I will be accepted and loved.” Can you sense the desperation in this cycle of IFs? Before long, the fog of depression and fear sets in and now has a grip on our joy. Instead of our own IFs lets turn to His!

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11: 28-29 NKJV)

Ok amazing blog readers, here is the challenge: Where do you see the divine IF? The word IF is not in the text but Christ has illustrated a conditional promise based on our choices, an IF that awaits our discovery! Please comment and share your insights!
