Have you dropped your sword in the middle of the battle field? Imagine deploying our amazing military into the heat of battle with top grade armor built for warfare and no weapons. Seems absurd, right! Yet we wake up each morning with our faith, peace, joy and salvation and NO weapon! We’ve put on the breastplate of righteousness and the belt of truth. We’ve talked to the Lord all morning long. We’ve got on our footwear, our helmet of salvation is shiny and our shield is strong. We’ve started our day and then it dawns on us, “where’s my sword?” I guess I’ll try and read the bible later. Wrong!
Just like a soldier’s success is based on training, discipline, repetition and keen awareness; our walk with God should never be lukewarm. I have often heard my husband coaching his players and our sons in football to, “keep your head on a swivel, you are now a target!” As a mom, I cringe. Yet I know, he’s speaking truth. They should be aware of the danger and heed his wise words. As soon as you gave yourself to Jesus, you became an enemy of satan. You are now a target.
Spiritual warfare is real. We can easily become convinced that we have no enemy and that there is no battle. IF we do, then when the fight comes to us we can’t stand. The bible teaches us to be alert and wear the full armor of God. Why would we need armor if there is no battle? Our fight as Christians is unlike any other. The victory is already declared and the war is won. Prophesy is unfolding before our eyes. We do not fear the enemy because we have victory. However, we still need to heed the warnings of God so that we’re not overcome in the battle. Get into His word. It is your only offensive gear, your weapon of warfare. Don’t enter into life unaware and unarmed. Fight the good fight!
- ” Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” (Ephesians 6: 10-18)
- “And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.” (Luke 4:8)
- “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:12)

This message is exactly what so many of us need to do daily, key to success on the battlefield. David refused to use Saul’s sword and armor on the battlefield against Goliath. We must use the equipment God has given us all! ♥️💪

Great illustration Nicole! Thank you for reading and sharing your wisdom. Armed with the Word of God, living in the strength of Christ we can do all things. When we become complacent in our walk with Him we are vulnerable to believe lies about ourselves, others and who God really is. Blessings to you!
