Man Up!

male leadership

A word to men: there is nothing more attractive than a man leading according to God’s design. I am certain that this will not be politically correct to blog about, but most of the bible isn’t “PC” anyway. When a man decides to put an end to passivity and rise up in Christ-like action, it’s magnetic to women. It’s irresistible. This doesn’t mean you know everything or that you are better. It simply means that you are willing to sacrifice it all for a calling much greater than imaginable. You’re willing to give up you and serve others. You become a living sacrifice.

This is rare. Many women are even afraid to admit that this is what they desire most. In today’s world of equality and conformity, somehow we stopped celebrated masculinity. It is mocked. Yet, in the privacy of my counseling sessions with women over two decades a theme has emerged, a desire for male leadership. Why? Because true servant leadership provides an earthly example of our Savior. When you’re in the company of a Christian man, it’s a little bit like walking with Jesus.

There is comfort and security when a man is decisively directive. This does not mean that he must be loud and bossy. Quite the opposite! Through a gentle, quiet spirit a servant leader is engaging and encouraging. He helps to awaken the potential in every person around him. He provides hope in the darkest of times and compassion amidst chaos. He is salt in a bland world. My prayer for all the men out there is that rather than looking to society to tell you who you are, ask God. He designed you. He knows the plans He has for you. Don’t settle!

Lord, Creator of the universe, Owner of All, my LORD, hear my prayer! The Psalmist cried to you, Make me walk in the path of Your commandments … Incline my heart to Your testimonies and not to covetousness … Lord grant me to walk in Your ways, to love my wife, to lay down my life for her, to put You and Your Word first in my life, to live as You direct. Remind me to practice Your Presence, You my audience of One. Oh, Eternal God hear my cry, remind me who I am and Who You Are!
