Ever been so stiff you can’t find any comfort? It’s like your back is twisted in a knot and your struggling just to breathe. This was me yesterday! I tried heat, nothing. I tried ice, nothing. I tried massage, nothing. In fact the massage therapist kindly said, “I’m not supposed to say this but I think your spine is out of alignment.” Of course she doesn’t know that I’m slightly stubborn when it comes to asking for help. I thought to myself, “I’ll give it time, It’ll get better.”
Then that evening, another gentle nudge from my personal trainer, “I know a guy, he’s really good at aligning your neck.” Can I just say that I love how God speaks in stereo! He brings caring people across my path that are all saying the same thing. GET ALIGNED! So finally I ask for proper help.
Now I find myself sitting in the chiropractor’s office as he is going through a full power point on the importance of alignment. Then he pulls out the 3D spine model showing where all the nerves misfire, get pinched and stop functioning when there is no alignment. Following his thorough assessment, he informs me that my neck is SEVERELY OUT OF ALIGNMENT. Curious? The pain is in the middle of my back, yet it was my neck all along.
Finally, I relax into the pain, pray and breathe as he skillfully adjusts my neck. Snap, crackle, pop everywhere! Then he says, “Thanks for trusting me to help you heal, sometimes people just don’t want to trust and then healing can’t happen.” Suddenly, I’m reminded of God’s great healing love for me. What is the prerequisite to healing? Being properly ALIGNED WITH JESUS and trusting His divine hands with my life! Just like the spine out of whack creates unnecessary pain making the most simple tasks impossible, so it is trying life without Jesus. Step out of your stubbornness friend. Trust Christ and let Him heal you. He is the only way to align with God. He is your path to peace.
