Can you relate to this weary man friend? Notice that our sovereign King is a servant. Though here we look upon a static image representing dirty feet made clean, remember what truly cleans us is His Word. ” You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” (John 15: 3-4 NKJ) As you prepare for the week to come maybe take some time to abide in our Lord.
Let me encourage you to resist the temptation to make things happen in your own strength. Are you thinking about your IFs already? IF I can get up and remember to call John first thing then things should go better in the meeting. These IFs are insidious. They are not from God. Did you catch the divine IF in Jesus’ words to us? You guessed it, our choice to honor His command to abide in Him positions us to receive His THEN (the promise given in this scripture.) He promises that we will bear fruit in life, not just exist, not make it through the day, no not our God! If we abide, then we will bear much fruit. Soak in His presence, abide in His Word and enjoy the fruit beloved!
